In US/ countries where it is technically cheaper, people signup for a 2 year contract of $70-$80 per month. If you do not want the contract, you end up paying close to $600 even here. Will you agree to spend Rs. 10k on the iPhone if it came with contract of Rs. 3000/mo as your bill? Probably not :) Comparing $600 in US to $700 in India is not that bad since we need to add things like import duty etc. Such is the price difference even with laptops and other tech gadgets. And people are probably getting ripped off even more if they buy it under that EMI plan. We don't even have 3G service in the country yet. They should be charging us <i>less</i>. India being the gr8 market for the foriegn investors and companies, here though the labour is cheap and oppurtunities are great..... i think now these big players have made up their brians to just cheat Indians as well....
